Popular Attractions

Baotu Spring (趵突泉) – A landmark of Jinan and often hailed as “the finest spring under heaven.” Its water surges with the force of a spinning wheel. Here, you can drink the crystal-clear spring water straight from the source and immerse yourself in the poetic charm of the “Spring City,” famously praised by Lao She.

Wulongtan (五龙潭) – Located next to Baotu Spring, this serene park is believed to be the former residence of Qin Qiong, a renowned general of the Tang Dynasty. It boasts 26 natural springs, and in winter, the mist rising from the water creates a dreamlike atmosphere.

Daming Lake (大明湖) – One of Jinan’s top three scenic spots. In summer, lotus flowers cover the lake like a painting. Visitors can enjoy peaceful boat rides, and at night, the illuminated Chaoran Tower offers a truly breathtaking view.

Qushuiting Street (曲水亭街) – A historic alleyway paved with bluestone slabs, flanked by quaint bridges and flowing streams. A must-do here is sipping spring water big-bowl tea at an old teahouse, for an authentic taste of old Jinan life.

Furong Street (芙蓉街) – Jinan’s beloved food street, where traditional snacks meet vibrant street culture. Be sure to try Youxuan (crispy spiral pastry), Tianmo (sweet rice dessert), and Baozi Rou (steamed meat buns) for a full local flavor experience.

Qianfo Mountain (千佛山) – Another of Jinan’s three great scenic landmarks. Climb the mountain for sweeping city views, and don’t miss Xingguo Zen Temple, a spiritual and cultural highlight popular among both tourists and locals.

Shandong Museum (山东博物馆) – Home to national treasures like red pottery animal vessels and eggshell-thin black pottery cups. The museum offers a deep dive into Qilu culture, presenting Shandong’s rich historical and archaeological heritage.

Black Tiger Spring (黑虎泉) – Second only to Baotu Spring in fame, this spring is known for its fierce flow from a stone tiger’s mouth. It’s a lively local spot where residents still fetch water, offering a glimpse into everyday life in Jinan.

Kuanhouli (宽厚里) – A trendy fusion of old and new, this popular street blends traditional Jinan snacks with modern cafés and eateries. It’s a great spot for tasting, strolling, and snapping Instagram-worthy photos.
